Guardant Health announced that its Shield blood test for colorectal cancer screening will be covered under Carelon Healthcare Services’ clinical guidelines starting Nov. 15, expanding coverage to eligible policyholders of one of the largest specialty benefits managers in the US.
“With the largest major medical benefit manager in the US to cover the Shield blood test for their members, approximately 90 million people nationwide now have access to Shield,” AmirAli Talasaz, Guardant Cofounder and Co-CEO, said in a Sept. 1 statement.
Terms for patients and policyholders, were not disclosed.
Shield is an FDA-approved blood test for primary colorectal cancer screening in average-risk adults 45 and older.
Carelon Healthcare Services is one of the largest specialty benefits managers in the country and subsidiary of one of the largest health insurance companies in the US, spanning more than 14 states. It is a subsidiary of Elevance Health, formerly known as Anthem.
