Lucid Genomics, Genetic Alliance Partner on Access to Rare Disease Analysis Software

The deal highlights how genome interpretation remains a significant expense for many diagnostic labs, even as sequencing costs have fallen.

Genetic Alliance and Germany’s Lucid Genomics have partnered to provide certain diagnostic laboratories free access to Lucid’s genomic analysis software.

Under the collaboration, announced July 27, Berlin-based Lucid Genomics will provide in-kind access to its AI-first genomic analysis platform for laboratories participating in Genetic Alliance’s global program, which offers no-cost clinical genomic testing to underserved children with suspected rare genetic diseases. The network spans 26 clinical sites and nine diagnostic laboratories. Financial and other details were not disclosed.

The deal highlights how genome interpretation remains a significant expense for many diagnostic labs, even as raw sequencing costs have fallen.

“Delivering clinical genomic testing requires much more than sequencing: it depends on an entire ecosystem of clinicians, laboratories, technologies, and partners working together,” Jennifer Troyer, Genetic Alliance’s director of global genomics said in a statement. “Lucid Genomics’ generous in-kind contribution strengthens that ecosystem by providing our laboratory partners with sophisticated analysis tools.”

Lucid’s platform analyzes whole genome sequencing data from both short- and long-read technologies.
