Tempus AI and University of Southern California Partner on Precision Medicine
The deal will integrate Tempus with precision medicine efforts at USC's school of medicine and at affiliated Keck Medicine clinics.
Tempus AI and the University of Southern California have announced a collaboration to integrate AI-based diagnostics, clinical trial matching, and care gap analysis into USC’s clinical and research workflows.
The collaboration, announced April 23, will bring Tempus’ molecular diagnostics and genomic profiling to USC-affiliated Keck Medicine’s clinical workflows. The partners will also collaborate on translational research: co-developing diagnostics and therapies while also building AI tools to connect research with clinical practice.
Moreover, USC will use Tempus’ TIME Trial Program to find patients eligible for targeted therapies and trials and the partners will apply algorithms to identify and close gaps in patient care.
“Fundamentally, this agreement helps accelerate precision medicine for our patients,” Steven Shapiro, senior VP for health affairs at USC, said in a statement. “By leveraging large data sets, we can better understand disease — particularly cancer — on an individual level. That will mean faster, more accurate diagnoses and the ability to predict treatment outcomes tailored to each patient’s specific disease, down to the molecular level.”
Financial details of the deal were not disclosed.
